“Playboy doesn't have incest-genre videos. Otherwise the Playboy Channel would've been down there before slavery was abolished.

Many mental illnesses are genetically linked and mental illness is already, rightly so, a consideration in our justice system. As with mental illness, a genetic predisposition wouldn't excuse your actions but they certainly could be considered as mitigating circumstances in some cases. The role of the courts isn't to punish or to advocate for the victim, it's to judge the evidence and circumstances impartially. Take the classic example of the man who steals a loaf of bread to feed his starving family, he is clearly wrong to steal but given those circumstances we would all do the same. In a case like this the court would take these mitigating circumstances into consideration when sentencing the man and rather then sending him to jail for stealing he might instead be sentenced to pay back the store for the stolen bread and be given no time in jail. Similarly, the defense lawyer for a person with a genetic predisposition to violence should have a responsibility to argue for a lenient sentence that maybe included anger management training or maybe medical treatment that might allow the individual to better control their anger. The prosecuting attorney would also argue any circumstances against leniency such as prior offenses. Ultimately the court then has to judge based on all the arguments what the best course of action is and that often includes leniency in consideration of the circumstances. I'd much rather a compassionate court system than a punitive one..
@ Gr00ver. Sorry, I guess that should have been 'You THE people...' :P!

Also, Germany sent a letter to Mexico asking for them to help attack us if the time came. The name of it escapes me, but it was the last straw I believe?
Yeah, I was thinking showing up at Thanksgiving dinner with it on would be much better. |

Based on the article, he [Gloor] should have just called her a "cheating whore" to avoid the defamation portion of the lawsuit.

To me it just seems pointless to compare the modern day "hipster" to the hippies and the Beats and the original hipsters. To start, no one claims to be a hipster, at least not in my experience. Has anyone here ever met a self-described "hipster"? If people don't self-identify as "hipsters," why pretend they are a social or political movement, why call them a group, like the hippies and the Beats? To me, the word hipster always sounds like an insult. I've never heard anyone use the word hipster without intending it to be derogatory. It's a word you use on someone who wears clothes you don't like, in a manner you don't like. I also think it's pointless and redundant to mock hipsters, because the word hipster is itself a term of mockery. It's like saying "you know what's wrong with *****? they're total dicks!" So stop trying to get all intellectual about what you think is wrong with hipsters. You can't critique a subculture that doesn't exist.
