“What's funny is that, number 1, he's a private citizen now-- neither scientist or politician, so it's not like he has to live up to any "standard" or do what people think he should be doing. Secondly, what's the big deal that he's investing in the ***** he has been saying will be the future? And finally, the single most important point that 95% of people pissed how AGW is a "myth" don't get:Al Gore is not the only person talking about global warming. People are like, "Al Gore is full of *****." Ok, what about the 5 million other respectable scientists (remember Gore is not a scientist) who say the same thing (or that the problem is even more grave than what Gore says)? What about the FAO and the EPA and James Hansen? What about the IPCC? Seriously, you can spend all your life trying to bash Gore and even if you dig up some story about how he ***** monkeys, that doesn't discredit the giant amounts of science and the loads of credible people that stand behind it.

If you want quality content that reports NEWS, someone will have to pay for it.Commercial TV and traditional newspapers, are more and more driven by their advertisers, or some corporate connection with interlocking directorates. You don't get reports on Corporate Crime anymore, or exposes on Monsanto's GM foods causing health problems.So I very much welcome Apple as the new news distributor - and if you don't think that sort of pay model will work -- we shall see. But I think you underestimate the demand for REAL content that isn't re-hashed AP newswire garbage at a reasonable price.I'd pay $10 bucks for a yearly subscription to a good news magazine and no trees would fall to do it. The Publisher, would likely make more with $6 a yearly subscription with no print and delivery costs than they do now.Maybe some might start out free -- but I think that's a bad business model for a healthy industry -- Apple started the iPod and iPhone as a premium product, and they haven't chased the bottom dollar for some time -- they upgrade the product and avoid it becoming a commodity.

I notice this with a new pair of bluetooth earphones I recently purchased. Indoors they work great, I can put em' on, slip the iPod in my pocket, and no skips, burps, or what have you. This is staying still or moving around. I step out onto the street and snap, it's like every 10 steps I get dropouts, etc. I know it's because all these consumer devices sit in the 2.4GHz ISM band. I noted that the dropouts always lasted around 10 or so seconds. So I wrote Motorola and asked if the NEXT revision of the S9's might include a 20 second buffer.
