And sadness, by god.
This is exactly what I was thinking! I think people are most agitated before they've actually made a decision about the act, but once they've actually decided on it they're calm, resigned. I don't know if this is going to make people less likely to commit suicide, or just more comfortable- less scared of doing it...

“I loved Who Framed Roger Rabbit, it is easily one of my favorite movies. I just hope that they can get Warner Bros and Disney on board like the last film. How many times will you see Bugs Bunny and Mickey Mouse in the same movie in the same scene?

these people didnt invent anything, they just observed genes, and were awarded the "rights" for genes they didnt create. they should have rights to a process, or to some alteration, perhaps, but its like listening to a piece of music someone else wrote and then saying you own it because you heard it.

Not quite. Even if it were a "side effect" of some other cognitive process (though that line of thinking isn't quite accurate, but that discussion is a long one and isn't necessary here), there's no reason that it wouldn't be selected out of the gene pool if it didn't have a positive effect on gene transmission. Furthermore, the ability to appreciate art and beauty would surely not be selected for at a greater rate than the negative effects of depression would be selected against. |
